A unique variety of egg noodles known as a Spätzle (Spaetzle)can serve as the main ingredient in other recipes like the well-known Käsespätzle or as a side dish with gravies or sauces. The whole family will enjoy this simple but tasty side dish.
Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1 pinch freshly ground white pepper
- ½ tsp. ground nutmeg
- ¼ cup milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tbsp. Chopped fresh parsley
Instruction:
- Put a large saucepan on the stove and fill it halfway with water. Heat the water until nearly boiling.
- Mix the flour, nutmeg, salt, and white pepper in a medium bowl.
- Beat Eggs and add in a small bowl. Milk and eggs are added to the dry ingredients in stages. Mix thoroughly until smooth,
- Press dough using a spaetzle maker, a filter with big holes, or a metal grater into boiling water and cook for 5 to 8 minutes. Drain well after removing with a wooden spoon or spatula.
- In a big skillet, melt the Butter. Stirring gently, add the spaetzle, and heat through. Serve with parsley on top.
